JAN 2019: YOUTH DEVELOPMENT TOUR

AN EXPERIENCE FOCUSED ON MENTORSHIP & DEVELOPMENT

DOWNLOAD INFO BOOKLET

WHY THE YOUTH DEVELOPMENT TOUR?

Twice a year AUSA Hoops tours to America with high-level Australian basketball players who are hoping to achieve their dream of landing a college basketball scholarship. AUSA takes these players to compete in most important recruiting events of the US college basketball calendar, AAU tournaments

These tournaments are ideal players who are in Year 11 or 12.

Over the years we have noticed many of our players are arriving in the US and competing in these tournaments under-prepared, unaware of the competition level and not ready to compete at the level needed to earn a college scholarship.

At such a late stage in their development, we are unable to help these players develop their basketball skills after such a challenging experience.

The Youth Development Tour is designed to give Yr 9 & 10 players a taste of American basketball, help them understand how hard they need to work if they want to play college basketball, and help them decide if they really want to chase this dream.

WHAT IS THE YOUTH DEVELOPMENT TOUR?

Our Youth Development Tour is designed to give players exposure to the American basketball culture, to open their eyes to how competitive it is to get a college basketball scholarship, and to teach the importance of the work ethic that is required to achieve your dreams.

It is an experience focused on mentoring and growth.

We go behind the scenes of college programs to watch practice, learn from college coaches and meet players.

We train with and play against US high schools, attend US high school classes and homestay with the students.

We have countless exercises to grow as players, including:
- Develop your on-court player identity
- Prepare scouting reports for upcoming college games we will attend
- Compare and contrast colleges from different levels
- Watch elite player individual workouts to understand the skill required to play at that level
- Mentor lectures from college and pro players & coaches
- Elite skill development training at Shoot360 facilities.

Many families sign their child up to play in tournaments; believing that just because their child is travelling to the US to play; that they will be seen by coaches, this is simply not the case.

AUSA Hoops have the experience and knowledge among their administration and coaches to ensure not only that their teams will be showcased at tournaments that matter but also provide honest and realistic feedback about your expectations.

The staff went above and beyond what we would have expected. The attention to detail that AUSA demonstrates during the planning of their tours is second to none.

We are extremely grateful to AUSA Hoops for the work that they have done for our family

JENELLE & PERO CAMERON

I am sure you guys have been told this many times but what you do is truly great, how you do it is equally impressive. The environment that you surround these kids in is something that will never be found where we come from. From a family that is in awe of your commitment to kids that want to achieve, we are definitely thankful for being given the opportunity to have our son in your care over the past couple of months.

He has come a long way since he first went down to Sydney and we saw an amazing amount of growth in his maturity when he arrived home recently.

DEANNE PARSLOW

Thank you again for your relentless pursuit in finding Noah this incredible opportunity for which we will be eternally grateful.

We wouldn't be here without your help, your connections and and the sacrifices to help him attend three trips with AUSA.

I couldn't be more proud of him.

Ideal for Year 9 and 10 students.

WHO IS THE YOUTH DEVELOPMENT TOUR FOR?

Players who have just completed Year 9 or 10 when they go on the tour.

Players who are interested in playing college basketball and either want to have an eye-opening experience on what it takes to make it, or want to figure out if this is the dream they want to dedicate themselves to chasing.

This tour is far, far from a holiday. It is a learning experience that at times will be tough and eye-opening.

Players are guided by coaches and mentors who have experience in basketball as players or coaches and want to pass the lessons they learned in their own journey onto the next generation of players.

For this particular tour, we are less selective on skill level, but more interested in players who are very passionate about basketball and have a desire to learn and grow.

Elite Year 10 players may qualify for our selective Youth AAU Team that plays in July with our senior teams.
